Adventure Tourism in Greenland

Adventure Tourism in Greenland

Greenland is a remote and isolated island that is not frequently considered as a tourist destination. Yet Greenland can be an ideal location for adventure tourism, with opportunities for heli-skiing and snowboarding year round. Travelers can view the Northern Lights dance over Greenland's Ice Cap and go heli-boarding on the highest peaks in Western Greenland.

There's also the local culture in the second largest town of Sisimiut to explore. This town makes an excellent base for dogsledding, snowmobiling, and sampling the local cuisine. Whale safaris are another attraction in the town of Maniitsoq. Admittedly, Greenland travel is best suited for hardy and adventurous travelers who aren't put off by the extreme cold. This rugged landscape remains wild and undiscovered, which is part of its charm. A new campaign to promote Greenland tourism allows people to follow the journey of two adventure travelers on Facebook and Twitter.
